  • Palgrave Test


The test indicates that I have a quite high creative tendency (10 out of 12), a reasonable drive and determination level but a low need for independence (6 out of 12) and not a real need for achievement (7 out of 12). According to this test, I also don't like taking a lot of risks.

My opinion:
I totally agree with the fact that I am innovative and imaginative, I have a lot of ideas and dreams, I like new challenges and reasonable changes. It is also true that I am not self-sufficient and self-confident, but I am someone rather optimistic and energetic on the contrary to what the results says.
I like having all the information needed before making a decision and I make this decision only if the probability of success is high. I have ambitions but I want to consider all the consequences of my actions before doing things.
I believe that success is the result of both luck and actions so I try to take opportunities but I also think that everything requires efforts and determination.

My classmates' opinion:
My classmates totally agree with my high creativity and with the fact that before making a decision I want to be sure to I have all the elements, but once my decision is made, I am task-oriented, I don't give up and I do it until the end.


  • Talents

In order to become a successful entrepreneur, I think I would need three different personalities to complete mine. Since I have a tendency to concentrate my thought on the present or on the short term, I need someone forward looking, who is results oriented in the long run. I am not really self-confident so I need someone who trust me and the company to reassure me when I feel insecure. I can be afraid of making a decision because I don't handle all the information so I need someone who like taking risks who is intuitive and guess well. But also someone who like doing less conventional things, without following all the rules.

I think I would have difficulty to worked with people too self-sufficient, with whom you can't establish a real dialogue. I also think that it is hard to work with people who can't finish their work on time.


  • Websites for entrepreneurs

I found two websites which can seriously help me in creating my business.

The first website is www.entrepreneur.com This website seems to be unavoidable for the future entrepreneur who ignore a lot of things and need information about almost everything. This website is very complete and general, so it can be useful to every type of business. Concerning my business idea, there is a part called online business which is very interesting. In fact, it gives some advice to be visible on the Net, to have a beautiful design for the website and gives example of some successful stories. So, it seems to be a good website to start.

http://smallbiztrends.com/ is another website really interesting. In fact there are a lot of information for people who want to launch a new project but do not know what to do and how to do the things. There is a category called "Small biz experts" where you can read some advice from entrepreneurs with experience. I think, learning from the others, their success and mistakes is the best way to learn. There are a lot of small articles with cartoons about everything which can concern an entrepreneur. This website can be very useful for my business idea because it is for people who want to create or who own a small business. My ambition is not to become a big company be to succeed in selling my robots and to be known.

In my opinion, everyone can be an entrepreneur. You just need to have a good idea or to have the courage to do what the other are afraid to do because it is risky.

My business idea is not a new idea since it already exists in the United States but the domestic robots or products unknown and not spread in the European countries. That is why I want to take some advance on the other in creating a business online to sell those products in Europe and, why not, in other areas like Asia or Africa in the next years. European can afford and would enjoy to have domestic robot, you just need to be the first one to commercialize the product.

So, this picture fits my business idwhile buying a product for theira because everyone can launch my project, I just need to take advance on the other and to exploit the situation.

I have taken with my camera a photograph of a bunch of keys to represent entrepreneurship. In fact, in my opinion, we have a lot of keys available in our lives, we always have to make decision, to make choices. An entrepreneur is someone who has a feeling, who is doing the good choice and above all someone who choose the right key among all the available keys. He chooses the key of the success...

  • Trend watching

I choose the idea of the partnership between Procter & Gamble and UNICEF. Each time a pack of the Pampers bearing a "1 Pack = 1 Life-Saving vaccine" logo is purchased, P&G will donate the cost of one vaccine to UNICEF.

I think this type of embedded generosity can be applied to my business idea. In fact, I could create a partnership with a humanitarian organization in order to give money every time someone buys one of my domestic robots. For example, I could be the partner of Médecins sans frontières and finance a vaccine each time a robot is purchased. I would choose Médecins sans frontières because French people and European in general trust this organization.

In my opinion, doing this partnership could be a good opportunity because while buying a product for their well-being, people will have the feeling of helping a child somewhere in the world. This will reduce their feeling of selfishness and give them a clear conscience.


  • Best practice

First of all, to understand what best practices is, let's have a look to the definitions of the web. According to Wikipedia best practices is : "a technique, method, process, activity, incentive, or reward that is believed to be more effective at delivering a particular outcome than any other technique, method, process, etc. when applied to a particular condition or circumstance.
It is "A way or method of accomplishing a business function or process that is considered to be superior to all other known methods"

So, concerning my business idea of selling domestic robots on the Internet, the best practices should be to optimize the satisfaction of customer and to optimize the way of dealing with orders and the supply chain. In order to do that, I can use IT systems to make the management of the orders very efficient. The employees are also very important so I need qualified, motivated and efficient people to work with me. I also need to think carefully about the better combination between the quality and the price of our robots.


  • Competencies

In order to launch my business idea, I will need some other competencies.

1- Multimedia skills_ 5 : Knowledge of multimedia systems and tools and their applications for presentation, design and Internet. Webmaster competence.
Since my business idea is a e-business I absolutely need someone well-qualified in multimedia and Internet.

2- Order processing _4 : Knowledge of techniques, methods and tools related to order taking and follow-up until delivery.
I will have to handle a lot of orders because the idea is to sell domestic robots online so I need someone who has a good knowledge in this domain.

3- Marketing_ 4 :Knowledge of part or all marketing concepts, methods, systems and tools, including branding, positioning, segmenting, value network, pricing and/or advertising.
The web marketing will be the key of the success, we have to be visible on the Internet that is why I need someone who totally master the techniques of marketing on the Internet.

4- Finance and treasury management_3 : Knowledge of part or all of finance management concepts, methods, systems and tools.
In every company you need someone to manage the financial aspect of the company.

5- Purchasing_3 : Knowledge of purchasing techniques, methods and related negociation skills.
My business idea is to commercialize products previously bought abroad. So I need someone to negotiate with the foreign companies to buy the robots at the best price possible in order to be able to sell them at the lowest price possible.

  • The Blue Ocean strategy
The blue ocean strategy is opposite to “red ocean strategy” which is war and harsh competition. Its principles are:
· Ignore current rules in the market
· Customer centric thinking
· Value innovation
· Extend customer value
For example, the company Dell found ways to have newest technology at the lowest price.
Once established blue ocean are hard to fight.

I think that my company has at least 2 of the 4 characteristics of the blue ocean strategy. In fact, my business idea value innovation and is customer centric thinking. Maybe I could try to instore this strategy.
